Open Burning Requirements
Residents may burn brush, leaves, and vegetation without a Burn Permit if the following conditions are adhered to:
• Brush, leaves and vegetation must originate from same property.
• No trash or household waste may be burned.
• No treated or dimensional lumber may be burned.
• Wind speeds including gusts must be less than 10 mph.
• Residents must call the Fire Station the day of the burn to advise of the burn, and to make sure that there is not a burn ban in effect. 816-690-2018.
• If the smoke causes a nuisance, the Fire Department may need to extinguish the fire.
• The fire must always be attended until extinguished.
• No burning on decks or fires within 15 feet of a structure.
A Burn Permit will be required for any burning in Agricultural/Land Management or Land Clearing Operations.
