A Vast Reach: Protecting Residents Across Jackson County MO
The number one misconception about Lone Jack Fire Protection District is the scope of our service area. Lone Jack Fire protects residents far beyond the city of Lone Jack’s borders. Our first responders answer calls of nearly 8,000 residents throughout Jackson County (on the eastern side near Kansas City); our crews provide emergency response services across a total of 56 square miles.
A Brief History of Lone Jack Fire District
Lone Jack Fire Protection District began as a volunteer organization known as the Lone Jack Community Fire Brigade in 1954. Our department grew out of a community need and was recognized as an official Fire District in 1975.
The department was an all volunteer organization until 1999. The District added two part- time personnel to meet the needs of the community and the increasing call volume. In 2004, EMS ambulance service was added. A full-time Fire Chief was hired in 2015 to meet the changing administrative needs, and, in 2021, a full-time Deputy Chief and six full-time firefighters were added to the district. Lone Jack currently has five EMS cross-trained firefighters per day (two full-time and three part-time).
From an all volunteer fire department in 1954 to a combination all-hazards department
The Lone Jack Fire Protection District has seen rapid growth and change within the last 70 years. Next year will be the Fire Districts 50th anniversary.
Lone Jack Fire Protection District is dedicated to the preservation of life and property in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Training and knowledge of fire apparatus, firefighting applications, equipment, chain of command and Department policy help to assure that we provide professional service to the community and a safe return of our personnel to their families.
