Meet District Leadership and Join the Team of Lone Jack Fire Protection District

The crews at Lone Jack Fire Protection District include 44 firefighters who all hold either EMT or paramedic certifications. Chief Jason Pool leads the District, and Brian Hershberger is the Fire Marshal.

Fire Chief Jason Pool

Jason Pool was appointed Fire Chief in 2024 after the retirement of the previous Fire Chief, David Kelsey. As Chief, Pool is focused on creating a culture of communication, respect, teamwork, health, safety, and fitness for fire and EMS personnel. In addition, he sees many opportunities to deploy technology to reduce community and first responder risk within emergency services.

Chief Pool started in emergency services in 1996 and became a licensed Paramedic in 2002. He has been a Lone Jack Fire Protection District member since 2001 and has worked in multiple capacities. Pool has held leadership positions in operations, administrative service, education, and training throughout his emergency services career.

Pool holds numerous certifications in the field of Emergency Management as well as Health and Safety. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Emergency Management and served as adjunct faculty at the University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Medicine. Pool is involved in multiple regional and state committees.

The financial, operational and personnel decisions of the District leadership are subject to the approval of a Board of Directors. Every fire district includes Board oversight to ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability. The Lone Jack Fire Protection District’s Board   includes 3 members,

Meet The Board of Directors

The members of the Board of Directors are elected to three-year terms. The Board includes a Board President and several Directors. Residents of the Lone Jack Fire Protection District elect Directors. The Board meets monthly and all meetings are open to the public. Meeting minutes are published to the Lone Jack Fire Protection District website in accordance with Missouri’s Sunshine Law.

I have lived in the western portion of the district for over 30 years with my wife and now grown children. I was appointed as a Board of Director in 2012 and then reelected by the voters.
